Joan of Arc
Joan of Arc (1412—1431) is the ultimate iconic rebellious teenager. In nineteen years she lived a fuller and more exciting life, effecting the future histories of the two most powerful nations on Earth, than most can even dream of, and then died a martyr’s death for her cause and beliefs, for which she was declared a saint 500 years later. Her story has been told in many novels, movies and comic books. She was the girl who God gave a mission to drive the occupying English out of northern France. So fervid was her demand for action that she was made an advisor to the French high command and led them to victory after victory in the cause of F
To the Struggling ChristiansMy cross broke the other day,
snapped off of the chain,
and nearly rolled away.
I caught it in my hands,
though it nearly slipped through
like tiny grains of sand
I'm a college student.
I attend a public school,
Nine hours away from home
and my faith too.
There's no emphasis on Catholicism,
no morning prayers through the Saints.
No “Our Father” to guide me,
no Mary to keep me through the day.
In fact it's the opposite,
grace comes in the form of drugs.
The new morning prayers
are deadly smoke to lungs.
I've never had a problem with Sexuality,
you know me.
You can tell this by looking through my old poetry.
Though what I cannot stand
is when you feel the need,
to invalidate one's Christianity
because of your sexuality.
They're giving me reasons not to believe,
in long list like shopping recipes.
Telling me what I already know,
begging me to tell God to go.
It's not easy to keep your faith,
when people are giving you reasons
to throw it away.
Though I'm lucky I sup
Why Do You Still Believe?I used to wonder how one could believe in a God who oppresses?
Who controls you, who uses you, whose unbreakable laws can lead to serious depression.
I wondered this because I know what it's like to be failed,
to be “abandoned” by God, and to be thrown in a personal hell.
But than I grew older and learned how to cope,
I learned that believing in God was like holding a tethered rope.
So I looked to the world and was surprised by what I had seen.
Together the believers were holding onto a broken string.
On the top of the rope God holds on tightly,
and towards the bottom, the believers cling to the Almighty.
Through oppression, through injustice bestowed upon them by God,
they refuse to release their grip, as their faith is stronger than their distrust of God.
Because God does not oppress, nor does He use or impose ridiculous laws,
it is humans who do this, never has it been God.
So they still believe in Him when they're murdered for their faith,
when they're bombed beca

Chapter 1 “Beginning to Write” – Section 2 “Constructive Reading”
“That's when I started being a writer. I got the Tarzan books and studied how Edgar Rice Burroughs kept the pace going, because he was really good at that. And I studied Stephen King. Although Burroughs wasn't that great on character, he was great on pace and adventure, and King is very good on character as well as pace. I read the same book over three times to see how it was put together. That's how I trained myself to write.”

For the lack of step-by-step guides that exist to teach us the secrets of writing from the great authors, there are artifacts that are just as valuable and available in abundance; these artifacts are th
