I was looking on TVTropes last night, just browsing for fun, on that 'Moments of Heartwarming' page. I skimmed through the ones that were in media and video games and stuff, and then I decided to look at the 'Real Life' page.
I saw the 'Acts of Kindness' page. These were a few of the things I saw;
Christians and Muslims protected each other from being hurt or terrorized so the other could pray.
A 10-year-old girl had her wish of seeing Disney's Up
granted just hours before she passed away.
Fellow DA member ~alicexe
painted a picture of another member ~Bamiebal
as Rapunzel (her dream is to be Rapunzel) after some coward insulted the latter on her beauty; ~Bamiebal
is very beautiful, by the way.
A group of gamers banded together to help a blind person that none of them even knew beat Ocarina of Time
; I heard about this story when it came out and I was so happy it was on that page.
A microphone gave out when a little girl was singing the USA National Anthem, and everyone in the stadium helped her finish the song.
Someone from 4chan did this -->s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.c…
A total stranger handed out iPads to children in St. John's Ward in England during Christmas Eve, and just disappeared five minutes later.
Those were just a few of the things on that page.
And you know on Youtube, you usually see someone or some people doing something stupid, or you see something horrific? Things that make you shake your head in shame?
And then...there are these videos;www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhup_z…www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pwe-pA…www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDXTQC…
(This video, or rather, watching the gameplay made me cry. Literally cry. You don't know just how precious something is until it's gone...)www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMs7CA…
And also, there are other things... Like the Boston Red Sox World Series victory this year. They really needed that victory after what happened, and I'm glad they got it.
Because when you watch the news and see all the crap that happens in the world, and you see just how low human beings can sink and continue to willingly sink lower than horse dung, one's faith in humanity tends to drop radically. For a lot of people, their faith is gone and they claim it can't be restored because humans have sunk so low, but for the rest of us, even though humanity has sunk that low, we still manage to hold on to that small percentage of faith, that tiny fraction, believing that it's not completely hopeless.
I don't know about the rest of you, but when I see things like what I listed above here, it reminds me of why my faith in humanity is still there. Because there are still people out there who genuinely care, who are still human.
And then there's you guys! You guys who watch my artwork, give critique, encourage me to not give up and keep going when I sometimes feel that it's not worth it, especially on Astral Cross
and that Markiplier picture.
To God; to my family; to those people who, even if I don't know you, remind me why I still have faith in humanity; to you guys my watchers, friends, and complete strangers on DA who support and encourage me just by looking at my art; to everyone who shows that beneath the cruelty and mercilessness of this world, it's still beautiful...
Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.
